Who's Behind The Pool?
I'VE ALWAYS LOVED A GOOD PARTY. BUT NEVER AN ORDINARY ONE.
If you've ever met me, there's a very good chance I've said "See you by the pool!" as we've said goodbye.
I've been saying it for as long as I can remember. Friends, family, people I've worked with, they've all heard it. It's become a bit of a trademark. So when it came to naming an events company, there was really only one name it could be.
But my love of throwing a good party goes back a lot further.
I started running pubs at 22, and by the time I was 30, I'd built quite a reputation for putting on parties that were anything but predictable.
One of my favourites was a Titanic-themed night.
Guests bought tickets without knowing whether they'd be travelling First Class or Steerage. A week before the event, they received their fate.
First Class enjoyed a sit-down dinner with the Captain, while Steerage got an Irish jig band, a buffet and, quite frankly, all the juicy entertainment.
It was ridiculous, theatrical, completely immersive and an absolute riot.
And that's always been my kind of party.
I love the anticipation. The unexpected details. The things that make people laugh, gasp or wonder what on earth is going to happen next.
I've been organising parties and events for myself, friends and businesses ever since.
Then came Muck N Brass, my creative business, where my love of making things bigger, bolder and more theatrical really took off. I started creating oversized props, giant sets and event dressing, turning ordinary spaces into something completely unexpected.
I was even bringing tattoo artists into parties long before Kylie Jenner made it fashionable. Because why wouldn't you want to leave a brilliant night out with a permanent souvenir?
I've never been particularly interested in doing things the conventional way. I've always loved pushing the boundaries of what a party can be, giving people something they weren't expecting and making sure they leave with a story to tell.
For me, a great event isn't just about what people see when they walk through the door. It's about how they feel, what they experience and the stories they're still telling years later.
I've never wanted to throw the same party twice. And I've certainly never wanted to throw one that people forget.
And now, alongside my business partner Kimberley, I'm bringing all those years of creativity, hospitality, entertainment and event experience together under one very familiar saying.
SEE YOU BY THE POOL.
It doesn't matter whether there's actually a pool.
It's an invitation. A promise of a good time. A little nod to the fact that something fabulous might be about to happen.
